Remember those folded paper fortune tellers you used to play with as a child? Guess what? They’re still awesome! My son and I were coloring the other day when I found these awesome squares of paper and remembered how much fun it was to make these when I was little. What you need: 1 square piece […]
I just celebrated my fifth Mother’s Day with children in my arms. Sixth, counting pregnancy. Motherhood begins at conception. Some are Mothers the day they become pregnant. Some are Mothers to children who aren’t their own, even before they make the conscious decision to become a Mother. Others choose to be Mothers through adoption. There are so many ways to become a Mother, […]
Here at the Diedreck household we have a one-year-old, a four-year-old, a working father and a stay-at-home mother—and a lot of weekly/monthly activities to keep track of. Whether it’s Daddy’s weekly photography class, Caleb’s preschool days and swimming lessons, Claire’s play dates or massages for Mommy (ha, just kidding)… we need to have a one-stop-shop […]
Let me start by saying how much I L.O.V.E. to sleep. I love to sleep! As a kid I could easily sleep until noon or later, and napped every day with my dad for an hour or more. As an adult, there were a few years when I worked a 9-5 job and didn’t have […]
It is estimated that one in 88 children, and one in 54 boys will be diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Boys are four times more likely to be diagnosed than girls. We just moved into a new home—and trying to make changes and redecorate and paint and tear up carpets… well, it is not only time-consuming, but not too much fun with a toddler running around. I decided I’d give my son, aged four, a task and have him help me decorate a wall in the […]
I used to have a Kindle Fire, but now I do everything on my phone because my Kindle Fire has become JW’s Kindle Fire. He actually refers to it as “My Candle.” He spends lots of time playing games on his Kindle. Many of the apps below cost a buck or two, but I’d say […]
So, I was taking the batteries out of a puzzle that Sophie got for Christmas. You know, one of those annoying, won’t-name-names brand of puzzles that are light sensitive? When every time you walk by it a monkey howls or a cow moos at you? Yeah, now you know why I removed the batteries. Real funny […]
When people ask me how old JW is, and I tell them 2.5, they inevitably respond, “Oh, the terrible twos!” No”, I say, “I like to call them the TERRIFIC Twos!” Yes, he has tantrums and is starting to exert more independence, but I think that’s terrific, truly! I’ve actually learned a lot so far […]
So back in September, I decided that I needed to do something to relieve my stress and boredom. My stack/hoard of crafting/scrapbooking stuff was staring ominously at me… The only problem with scrapbooking, personally, is that if I am not in the mood, my pages turn out like junk. So, I wanted to do something else. […]
